Throughout our lives there will be times when we feel sad from upsetting life experiences, such as a death in the family, major illness, loss of a job, divorce, but the feelings of grief and sadness tend to become less intense over time.
Depression occurs when feelings of extreme sadness last for at least two weeks or longer and interfere with daily living
